Halti’s headquarters halved its energy emissions

Halti’s headquarters in Sipoo continues its determined work for the environment. At the beginning of 2025, our operations were audited by WWF, and our Green Office certificate was renewed. We’re now reporting on our headquarters’ environmental work for 2024 – you can read the full report here.

Significant drop in energy emissions

The most notable positive change in Halti’s environmental impact came from energy emissions, which have been cut in half compared to 2022.

– The main reason is the shift from oil heating to pellet heating and air-source heat pumps. In addition, we use emission-free electricity. Our owner’s investment in this new heating solution has been a significant act for the environment, says Halti’s Head of Operations, Laura Roman.

Careful planning and reduction of purchases also contributed to lowering overall emissions. On the other hand, increased business travel and clean-outs of our warehouse and office spaces led to a rise in waste emissions. In the overall emissions comparison, there was a slight increase from last year, but compared to our first reference year, 2022, the long-term trend is still downward.

Green Office team keeps sustainability present in everyday work

At Halti’s headquarters, a cross-functional Green Office team works to embed sustainability into everyday operations. The team includes representatives from each department and is open to anyone who feels the topic is important.

– We set goals and metrics, organize internal events, and create guidelines for our staff. Environmental work is often about small everyday choices, and one of our roles is to remind ourselves and our colleagues of those, says Personnel Manager and team member Emmi Kettunen.

– One of our key goals for 2025 is to maintain strong internal and external communication on environmental topics, Kettunen adds.
