MATERIALS
CLOTHING
At Halti, we use materials that create highly functional clothing that can be used, combined, and layered based on your activity and the weather conditions. We only use the best-in-class material for each product to ensure it performs to the highest standard in each product category. Our fabrics and products are designed to be long-lasting.
Our selection offers products made from high-quality technical materials that ensure protection against the weather while maximizing breathability. You will also find natural materials in our collection, such as down and merino wool.
Active dry ®
Is an effective material that transfers moisture from the skin and maintains a pleasant and dry feel, even in intense use. The material does not absorb water itself, so it dries quickly. Materials manufactured with Active Dry® technology are used in technical shirts and pants, lining fabrics, underwear, and layering garments.
Airlite
Products that are light as possible and can easily be packed for example into the items own pocket and/or hood. Airlite products carry the Weight Series marking, indicating the weight class of the product.
The Weight Series value ( 50,100, 200 etc) is determined according to the measured weight in size M for men and size 38 for women. The value is not definitive. For example, the weight of Weight Serie 200 product is 200-299g.
Down
We only use certified or recycled down.
All of our virgin down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard. The RDS independently certifies down against animal welfare requirements and tracks it from the source to the final product. From farm to factory. Every stage is certificated, ensuring that animals: Are not live-plucked, force-fed, have been treated with respect, throughout their lives and the down is a by-product of the food industry.
DrymaxX®
DRYMAXX® - FOCUS ON PROTECTION AND PERFORMANCE
(values between 5000-20 000mm/500-20 000g/m2/24h)
Designed for different activities that require water resistance, breathability, and durability in various conditions and environments.
DRYMAXX® NANO - FOCUS ON BREATHABILITY
(minimum 20 000mm/20 000g/m2/24h)

Merino Wool
Wool as a material is naturally antibacterial and it is suitable also for technical, active use products. We prohibit wool from farms that practise mulesing of sheep.
Microtherm
Technical paddings which are produced by high standards using recycled materials. Paddings are extremely light weight and they can maintain high heat ratio even when wet. As padding is water repellent and extremely breathable, it is suitable for really high activity, in cold and wet circumstances.
microtherm THERMOFILL
This super soft down like filling contains small fiber slusters that are blowed into filling. This way fibers creates uneven structure that can capsule a lot of air inside and makes it very warm and lightweight.
microtherm ARCTY
With extra fine and soft fibers this filling creates lofty feeling and super warm result. Many layers of fine fibers can capsule air very effectively and thus can be used in the coldest conditions.
microtherm DYNAMIC
Enough warmth and technical functionality is key to this dynamic filling. Overlapping fibers creates stretchable structure that sapsules air even with slim structure. Works perfectly with stretchable outshells.
PrimaLoft®
PrimaLoft® wadding technology originated from the needs of the US military to develop a synthetic water resistant option to down. The PrimaLoft® wadding technology is based on the smallest fibres the technology has to offer.
The fibre size is less than 1 denier (the average fibre size is 2.5-6 denier). These extremely small fibres are able to bind volumes of air inside their wadding structure, resulting in excellent warmth and lightness. PrimaLoft® also repeals water effectively and dries quickly. This is based on the fibre structure and a permanent water resistance treatment added to the fibre.
The treatment of PrimaLoft® fibres reduces the capacity of the fibres absorb moisture while makeing it water-resistant. PrimaLoft® wadding is the best option for cold and wet condition.
Stormwall®
A windproof material that is used in products that require first-class wind resistance, breathability and good water resistance. The Stormwall® high technical features are based on special knitting technology, connecting the surface and lining fabric together or adding coating to fabric inner surface.
The result is breathable, light material which offers products for active use. In addition to clothing, the Stormwall® membrane is also used in gloves and winter caps.
X-Stretch
Is a stretch fabric suitable for active sports, hiking, trekking and even for leisure use. The material repels both wind and moisture and it is breathable. As the material has good wicking performance, it dries quickly. The material has no membrane, its surface fabric is tightly woven and its inner surface can be either combed or smooth, depending on the application.
FOOTWEAR
Halti shoes are designed to withstand demanding weather conditions and diverse outdoor activities. They utilize waterproof membrane technology to keep your feet dry and comfortable in changing weather.
The outsole materials are carefully chosen to provide grip on various surfaces, such as slippery, wet, or uneven terrain. Halti shoes feature rubber soles that combine flexibility, durability, and excellent shock absorption. The sole structures effectively support the foot and ensure confidence with every step.
Technologies
DrymaxX®
In Halti DrymaxX® footwear, the lining material is laminated with waterproof and breathable 100% PU membrane. Lining is in sock-construction with taped seams, to ensure total waterproofness and dry feet. DrymaxX® shoes are waterproof up to the top seam of socklining, and work best with technical socks. Wool as material, for an example is not recommended, because it absorbs moisture more effectively than membrane can extract it, which can result in damp feeling.
Stormwall®
Stormwall material has a PFC-free finish, that repels water and oil, without losing the fabric’s natural features like breathability and elasticity. Good option if you need water resistant shoes but want to keep them light and breathable. Stormwall finishing does not wear out or suffer from washing.
Natural Fit
The new anatomically shaped last offers plenty of room for toes, following the natural shape of the foot. Allowing the toes to spread naturally improves balance and has been shown to reduce foot-related issues. The zero-drop last supports a healthy, natural gait and posture. If you are not used to zero-drop, it might feel strange to begin with, but you can start with thicker insole, to get used to it.
StepIN
StepIN shoes have special heel structure, that makes them easy to slide on without hands or bending, once you have adjusted the fastening suitable for your own fit.
Freelock System™
Freelock™ is South Korean speed- and safety laces system. It is very easy to use – just turn the disc clockwise to tighten, and anti-clockwise to loosen. This is easy to do with one hand, with gloves on. It gives nice snug fitting, without worry of loosen laces. Halti gives Freelock™ system 2 years guarantee, also spare parts and tools are available.
Materials
Softshell
Softshell is a generic term for a type of breathable, flexible, weather-resistant outerwear fabric. In footwear Softshell is lightweight and comfortable option, while it is not the most durable or protective. Softshell is best in outdoor lifestyle walking shoes, combined with waterproof membrane. All Softshell used in Halti shoes, is made of recycled polyester from plastic bottles.
Leather
Leather used in shoes is usually cow hide, as it is strong and durable. Skins are by-product of meat-industry and sourced locally. Leather has been used in footwear for thousands of years, and it has many qualities that people appreciate, such as breathability, flexibility and durability. When cared well, leather shoes lasts for decades. To achieve all that, hides must be processed in tanneries. Most common is chemical tanning, that produces beautiful and strong leather. Chrome is the main chemical used in tanning, and the chemical trace of chrome is very closely monitored by EU, and by Halti. We have zero tolerance for Cr6 residues.
Thinsulate™
3M Thinsulate™ is lightweight, synthetic, breathable and moisture resistant insulation used in winter boots for cold weather. Thermal insulation value 1.5 – 3 CLO, it is 100% polyester and hypoallergenic. Thinsulate wadding is made from Olefin/Polyester microfiber, and it has excellent warmth-to-thickness ratio, making is perfect for footwear use.
Bio-based materials
Bio-based, or renewable material, is a growing group of not only textiles (fibers) but also foams (polymers). A bio-based material is made wholly or partly from biological resources like plants, offering a renewable alternative to fossil fuels. These materials derive from biomass, storing carbon as they grow, which can contribute to lower carbon footprints and support circular economy goals. Bio-based materials are not necessarily organic, or biodegradable, as the term "bio-based" simply indicates the material origin.
Vegan Nubuck
Halti’s Vegan Nubuck is synthetic leather, without animal-based products. It is 50/50 recycled PES knit with water-based PU coating. It is soft to touch and looks like real nubuck leather. Vegan nubuck can be protected with waterrepellency spray, and should be cleaned from dirt regularly, but after that it is carefree compared to leather. It is slightly elastic, but it doesn’t stretch and re-form like real leather in use. And while it is good alternative for leisure and outdoor activities, it is not as durable and protective as thick cow hide.
Seacell™
Seacell™ is an innovative and sustainable cellulose fiber made by combining wood-based cellulose with finely ground seaweed harvested from the fjords of Iceland. It is a soft, breathable and skin-friendly material. It is biodegradable and manufactured in a resource-efficient, closed-loop process.
X-stretch
X-stretch is engineered knit textile that stretched and supports to certain designed direction and places only, and at certain level only. This kind of stretching knit makes sneakers with sock-uppers possible to pull on and still have desired support. As a knit it is naturally breathable, it can be treated for water repellency, and it can be done from any fibers.
Insoles
Comfort Plus
Comfort+ insole is made from PU foam, mould to the shape of last. This material is more durable compared to EVA insole and offers super soft cushioning. As a material the foam is naturally antibacterial, reducing odors. It is lined with textile, according to the intended use.
Hiking Ortholite Insole
Ortholite™ special patented open cell foam construction is breathable, washable, and antibacterial. It keeps its form and shock absorbing ability, even in long term hard use. As a firm foam, it is excellent choice for trekking and hiking, insole also has raised EVA cup heel support to make heel part cushioned for comfort and firmly supported.
Memory foam
Memory foam is a generic term for a type of visco-elastic PU foam. It is naturally antibacterial, as it is so dense that bacteria can’t survive on it. Same time it is airy and soft, and it reacts to temperature, forming supportive cushioning in just the right shape. Commonly used in mattresses for comfort, in footwear it is mostly used in footbed for same reasons.
Thermal
Thermal insole is designed for extreme cold weather, effectively blocking coldness that rises from ground and keeping feet warm in freezing conditions. Base is 5mm thick EVA foam, which is insulated with aluminum layer, and lined with special moisture wicking and heat restoring soft brushed textile.
Outsoles
Halti Michelin Off-Road
Durable and light weight Michelin rubber sole with a self-cleaning pattern designed for off-road hiking and trekking. Offers excellent traction to 4 direction, uphill and downhill.
Halti Michelin Icegrip
So called Friction sole, designed for icy surfaces without spikes. Patented Michelin rubber compound with outstanding grip on ice and packed snow, with winter car-tire pattern. Like winter car-tires, the compound is softer than basic rubber, which makes it so grippy, so it wears out faster if used on tarmac and warm temperatures, like tires.

High profile sticky rubber outsole for winter outdoor activities. Tread pattern is designed for snowy trails. Lugs push through layers of snow, like teeth, for great grip.
GripmaxX Trail
High profile rubber outsole, with good traction for loose terrain, on and off trails. Self-cleaning tread and durable rubber compound, fortified at heel.
Hyper Critical EVA
Hyper Critical EVA foam is latest addition to so called super foams, many different names are used by different brands, essentially it is same thing. It is EVA (Phylon), but the production method is different; the liquid EVA is ‘exploded’ with air pressure in mould, to create this specific foam. Invented for running shoes, it combines extremely light weight, softness, energy return and stability. It is used for midsoles or insoles for its shock-absorbing abilities.
Refresh Foam™
Refresh Foam™ is bio-based and biodegradable foam that can be used like EVA in midsoles and insoles. It is created by combining agricultural waste with EVA compounds, like used coffee grounds, tea stems and rice husk. It is USDA Certified bio-based product with 30% carbon from natural sources.
