DREAMING OF THE OLYMPICS

Vilma Nissinen is part of Finland’s first professional ski team, Team Electrofit. Her dream and goalis the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics this season. She joined Halti’s strong squad of female cross-country skiers a couple of years ago and has since been pushing Halti’s XC collection to the limit in tough training and extreme conditions.

From glacier camps to everyday training

“It’s been cool to test products during their development and give real feedback based on my training,” says Vilma. “Last winter, I took the Framover set to my first glacier camp of the season, and today that same kit is in stores.” Alongside home training in Helsinki, the Framover jacket and tights traveled with her to Ylläs, Olos, Levi, Ruka, Vuokatti, and Ramsau, Austria. Around 40 hours of testing, in conditions ranging from mild 0°C to –15°C. Framover worked best in freezing weather, and layering with base layers or a vest made it even more versatile.

Performance in the cold

Vilma found that the Framover XC hybrid jacket struck the balance between breathability and warmth. “The material feels good to wear, the light padding is perfect for colder days, and I like the proper front pockets. Plus, ski clothing should also look good: the quilting detail in the front is nice. For future collections, I’d love to see some even bolder colors.”

Top-tier tights

When it comes to the Framover tights, Vilma is clear: “These are one of the best Halti’s ski pants I’ve ever used. With lighter ski pants, flexibility and fit are key, and these really deliver. The material is breathable enough for intense training sessions too.”

"Skiing is all about the right gear, including clothing. Good (and good-looking) ski wear makes it all much more fun."  – Vilma Nissinen
