WE ARE HALTI

The story of Halti, founded in 1976, began with the realization that people needed more functional gear in order to enjoy outdoor activities and hiking even in the most demanding conditions. Now almost 50 years later we are still on the same path. We want to inspire people to connect with nature. We want to inspire people to enjoy a day out in the mountains, explore the woods and ski across snow-covered fields. We exist to help people find their own peak moments: to experience the balance, calmness, and harmony that comes with connecting to the natural world.

1976 Halti founded The Halti brand was established by Juhani Hyökyvaara. As a young man, Hyökyvaara worked as a sales assistant in a Helsinki camping and hiking store and saw how people were looking for lighter, more functional backpacks, sleeping bags and tents than the market had to offer. The idea for a company of his own took hold, and Hyökyvaara founded his own business and began to design and manufacture hiking equipment.
