Innovation in Materials and Technology
We are committed to driving innovation in materials and technology within the outdoor industry. Our apparel is designed using Browzwear 3D design software, which reduces textile waste, logistics emissions, and the use of natural materials. We constantly explore and try out new advanced technologies.
Innovative fabric technologies play a significant role in the fashion industry's sustainability efforts, and we want to be at the forefront of it by investing in material innovation collaboration. In 2024, togther with a Finnish sustainable textile fibre manufacturer Spinnova, we brought Cyclus unisex parka into the market. Made from certified wooden SPINNOVA® fiber and cotton, the parka’s fiber production used minimal water, no harmful chemicals, and is entirely biodegradable and recyclable. The Halti Cyclus unisex parka was recognized by Finnish consumers as the most sustainable product in Finland.
Environmental risk management and emission reduction
We are a member of amfori BEPI which helps us identify and target major environmental hotspots in our supply chain. By focusing on several environmental performance areas (e.g. energy, climate, water, effluents, emissions to air, waste, chemicals, biodiversity and nuisances) most relevant to our operations, we can effectively manage potential risks, measure and monitor improvement.
Halti is committed to the global Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting emission reduction targets that align with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.
We are conducting a comprehensive emissions assessment across our entire value chain. Based on this assessment, we will establish clear targets to reduce Halti’s emissions.
By joining SBTi, we are also part of the global Race to Zero campaign, alongside over 14,000 non-state actors, including companies, cities, regions, and institutions worldwide.
To follow our progress in setting emission reduction targets, see our annual sustainability reporting.
WWF Green Office
Halti’s headquarters in Sipoo, Finland, is certified as a WWF Green Office. This certification ensures that environmental considerations are central to our decision-making and daily operations.
Our entire team is committed to recycling, saving energy, using public transport or electric vehicles, and reducing emissions in various ways. We set goals, track progress, and report results using the WWF Green Office platform.
In addition, Halti HQ is equipped with solar panels that generate part of the energy we use. You can follow our green office work more closely in our annual sustainability report.
Optimization of Logistics
For its lower environmental impact, we prioritize sea transportation for shipping products from overseas factories. For international couriers, we use UPS carbon-neutral logistics. In Finland, we rely on POSTI’s carbon-neutral transportation for domestic deliveries.
Our production and transportation processes are optimized through accurate forecasting and strict material and production planning.
When leaving the factory, our products are packed in recycled post-consumer plastic bags and stowed in a recyclable cardboard box. We pack smart, keeping things snug without overdoing it. Your gear stays protected but not crumpled.
For webshop purchases, we deliver orders in either a paper mailer or a recyclable cardboard box, depending on the size.
If you’d like to take a more closer look on our logistic figures, please see our annual sustainability reportin.
