02/06/2011: GAP2011, FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

Halti will be the official clothing supplier and one of the main sponsors of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships presented by AUDI to be held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on 7-20 February 2011.

The Alpine World will be guest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Its a resort with a brilliant skiing tradition. Olympic Winter Games in 1936, Arlberg Kandahar races since 1954, FIS Ski World Cups since 1970 and the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 1978, the proud list shows why Garmisch-Partenkirchen is also called the cradle of ski racing in Germany. From February 7th to February 20th 2011 Garmisch-Partenkirchen will again be center of the Ski World during the 41st FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The brave volunteers

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen are expected to become a "festival in the snow", an unrivaled experience both for the audience and athletes. In order to achieve this ambitious aim, the host requires nearly 1'200 volunteers.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Sports and culture, history and tradition make Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The town is the Number One Winter Sports resort and at the same time one of the major health resorts in the Bavarian Alps because of its climate.
Since at least the Olympic Winter Games 1936 the international top-class sports found a home here. Today the town is representative for the famous "Neujahrs-Skispringen" (this year for the first time on the brand new ski jump) and the Ski World Cup on the legendary Kandahar slope.

Candidature for the Olympic Winter Games 2018

Preparations for the FIS Alpine World Championships 2011 and already for the candidature for the Olympic Winter Games 2018 too, are in full swing. Take biathlon, ice hockey, canoe or paragliding - the picturesque town spread into the wide valley where Partnach and Loisach river come together is well known as venue for World and European Championships in many disciplines.
